Halloween Week |

Dear Residents,
Halloween is a fun time for many - a chance to dress up, have fun and enjoy your community. We want everyone across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire to have a great night, while keeping themselves and others safe and feeling comfortable. Trick or TreatingHalloween's about having fun - but a good night means looking out for each other: Respect others: Not everyone wants a knock at the door. Look out for " No trick or treat" signs and move on if someone doesn't want to take part. Keep it kind: What might seem like a harmless prank could upset or scare others - especially older or vulnerable neighbours. Fireworks aren't toys: Don't carry or throw fireworks. It's dangerous and illegal, and could cause serious injury or damage. Stay together: If you're out after dark, stick with your friends and, if you have one, keep your phone charged. Be seen and stay safe: Wear something bright or reflective, and keep to well-lit areas. Parents and guardiansYou know your young people best, and a little planning can make Halloween night safer and smoother: Set clear boundaries: Talk about where your children are going, who they are with, and what time they should be home. Check costumes: Make sure outfits are visible to drivers and flame resistant, especially if candles or fireworks are around. Remind them about respect: Encourage children to only visit houses that are clearly taking part in trick or treating - often they will have a pumpkin outisde or on display. Firework safety: Only adults should handle fireworks, and they should always be bought from reputable sellers. Be a role model: Keeping things friendly and considerate helps everyone enjoy the evening - expecially those who might feel nervous about Halloween. If you see something that doesn't feel right, you can report it to us online or by calling 101. In an emergency, always call 999. We'll have extra patrols out across West Mercia this Halloween, working with communities to make sure everyone enjoys the night safely, fun, friendly and fright-free for everyone!
